Visit to Frankfurt MuzikMesse 2010

Because I really want to know what is going on in the music industry (latest developments of new gear, techniques and software), I'm visiting every other year this mega event in Frankfurt. To be very honest, this year was a little bit disappointing.
Digidesign was present with only a very small AVID booth (compared to 2008 event, their booth was really huge, every Digidesign product available was exposed to the public). AVID was mainly focusing on their VENUE product range. Apogee only displayed their Ensemble and Duet range...no show on the high end X-Series.... Neumann also reduced their floor space, but still had a nice setup to compare the top range of their products, and I enjoyed their butter cookies
I had a nice chat with Chris Allen from Prism about the Prism Sound ADA-8XR range...telling me that their word clock and AD/DA converters sound completely different than the Digidesign 192 I/O... Maybe one day worth trying? I missed my favorite booth from Tube-Tech...damn...
I tried out the SONNOX Oxford plugins, and was really impressed about the sound. Probably something on my next birthday wish list. Compared to previous years, JOCAVI had a nice bigger booth showing off their latest development in acoustic panels. Of course, SoundReplay studio acoustics is completely tuned with JOCAVI Dynamic Flows, Wall traps, Basscorners and Coral Reefs... Congratulations to the JOCAVI team! Keep up the good work!
And last but not least, I had a nice conversation with Jurg Vogt from my favorite cable brand VOVOX. He told me that if I need a cable, which is not standard, I can always order custom made cables.... that is service!
Oh yeah, I've tried some Orange pre-amps and Fender guitars...
